Port of Cork enters Smart Port arena with launch of Net Feasa LPWAN IoT Monitoring & Asset Tracking Solution

Global ultra-low cost end to end monitoring and asset tracking now a reality

Port of Cork, Ireland, Thursday October 28th, 2016.

Net Feasa Ltd., a Service Provider for next generation Internet of Things (IoT) networks, has announced the successful implementation of a Location & Sensor services IoT Network in the Port of Cork. Utilizing the next generation LoRa®-equipped Wireless Networks with geo-location capability, Net Feasa worked in cooperation with Semtech Corporation (Nasdaq: SMTC), a leading supplier of analog and mixed-signal semiconductors, Pervasive Nation (CONNECT), an Irish nationwide research and innovation IoT testbed and OrbiWise, a leading provider of infrastructure solutions for IoT networks to provide this smart solution.

The extremely power efficient LoRa solution will potentially open up the mass market for container and asset tracking at ultra-low cost.

Port of Cork Harbour Master Captain Paul O’Regan commented: “More and more clients today, as they move their valuable assets across the globe, demand visibility of the ongoing condition of their products. For example, if an asset is refrigerated and there is a change in temperature, this should be known in real-time. The technology we are testing is the first we have seen that can do this economically and the refrigeration industry alone should see huge benefits.”

Net Feasa COO, Nikola Nestorov, said: “We have a lot of experience in providing specialist wireless network solutions and we are very excited about the new LoRa wireless system functionality. Our focus in Net Feasa is around global freight, logistics and track and trace applications, and the LoRa native geolocation capability provides us with a powerful and cost effective tool for asset tracking. As more and more nationwide LoRa networks are announced, Net Feasa is targeting to take a global lead in Smart Port enablement and low cost asset tracking.”

“Net Feasa has demonstrated a real solution to tracking assets across the globe at minimal cost based on Semtech’s LoRa Wireless RF Technology,” said Marc Pegulu, Vice President and General Manager, Wireless and Sensing Product Group at Semtech. “LoRa-based sensors allow years of battery life while continuously updating freight companies on the status and location of important goods. This is yet another great example of how ecosystem partners from the LoRa Alliance™ can implement a real measurable solution to one of the transportation industries great challenges.”
